What is an ABA transit number?

Sometimes referred to as a check routing number, ABA transit numbers were developed by the American Bankers Association in 1910 to indicate check processing endpoints. Since then, the numbers' use has expanded to include participants in check clearing between banking institutions, automated clearinghouses, and online banking activities. 1

Where can I Find my transit number?

Your transit number should be printed there. If you don’t have any checks, the transit number can still be relatively easy to find. You can find the number by heading to your bank’s website, calling your bank branch or support line, or visiting your branch in person.
